Tomatero Farm is in Watsonville, Ca. Our farm has been C.C.O.F. certified organic from the start in 2003.
The ranch is managed and owned by Chris and Adriana, Our Farm Tomatero –meaning ’tomato picker’ in Spanish– was named by Adriana’s 80 year old Nicaraguan Grandmother, after 2 years of “Waiting to be inspired.” she gave Chris that nickname and it just seemed to fit, after all; tomatoes are our original speciality! Since then we have become much more diverse in crops, growing many different vegetables and raising laying hens for eggs.
Our crew is made up of a few families and friends that many have been with us since the farm began and have in large part made the farm what it has become. A steady, secure, inspiring operation that we all enjoy working for. Our farm provides steady, year round employment and exceeds fair wage requirements.
The produce we grow is flavorful and special because of the combination of variety and climate. We grow a large variety of tomatoes, as well as berries, brassicas, root vegetables such as carrots, beets, and onions. Bunched and loose greens; such as Bloomsdale spinach, chards, and kales. We also raise several different breeds of chickens we raise for eggs on several acres of rotating pasture. Please stop by the farmers’ markets to enjoy our produce and meet the people who are taking part in growing your food.
We appreciate your support, we love what we do and thank you for allowing us to do it.
